1907. Birkett, D. S., geologist, collected
a few bryophytes and phanerogams at Yakutat Bay in July. Hoodoo
I. and the Mt Evans reg. near Valdez were visited. Specimens in
the Univ. of Washington.
1907. Cowles,
Henry Chandler, of the Univ. of Chicago, and Detmers,
Freda, of the Ohio Agricult. Exp. station, obtained a large collection
in S.E. Alaska, now preserved in Field Mus. The following places
were visited: July 29 Skagway; July 31 Lake Bennett; Aug. 2 Mt Dewey;
Aug. 6 Sitka; Aug. 20 Mt Andrew.
1907. Yokoyama,
N., made a small collection around Nome. Specimens in Tokyo.
A list of the species was published by KOIDZUMI (Bot. Mag. Tokyo 25, 1911).
1907. Van
Dyke, Edwin Cooper, professor of the Univ. of Calif., took part
in the Massachusetts Inst. of Technology Expedition to Alaska under T.
A. JAGGAR. VAN DYKE collected about 500 specimens, which are kept
in Gray Herb. Duplicates in Ottawa. A report on the expedition
was published by JAGGAR in Technology Review 10, 1908. The
following places were visited: June-July Unalaska; July 13-17 Makushin
volcano, Unalaska I.; July 25-Aug. 2 Atka; Aug. 7 Bogoslof I.; Aug. 8-19
Unalaska; Aug. 20-23 Akutan.
1908. Diehl,
I. E., obtained a small collection, now in Univ. of Calif., at
Ketchikan, Juneau, Treadwell, Fort Liscum and Copper R.
1908. Powers,
Carrie Nevada, née WEST, obtained a small collection,
now in Univ. of Calif., around Nome about the year 1908.
1908. Sheldon,
C., collected a few plants N. of Mt McKinley.
1909. Scheuber,
Emma Ware, collected about 120 specimens at the beginning of
July at Ketchikan, Haines, Porcupine R. (40 miles inland from Haines)
and Sitka.
1909. Hitchcock.,
Albert Spear, chief agrostologist of the U. S. Dept. of Agricult.,
and Kellogg, Royal Shaw, of the U. S. Forest Service,
collected about 800 numbers, chiefly grasses, in S.E. Alaska, Yukon and
N.W. Alaska. They form the nucleus of the grass collection from
Alaska and Yukon in Nat. Herb., Washington. KELLOGG published a
report »The forests of Alaska» (U. S. Dept. Agricult. Forest
Serv. Bull. 81, 1910). The following places were visited: June
18 Wrangell; June 21 Sitka; June 25 Juneau, Douglas; July 1-3 Cordova,
Miles Glacier; July 10-11 Skagway; July 12 Caribou Crossing; July 13 Whitehorse;
